Theme

The SIS Forum is an complementary event to the RSIS conference (Role of Science in the Information Society) which will take place at CERN the 8th and 9th December 2003, and will focus on the themes of the conference.

  • The organization of the stand will reflect the five topics that the RSIS conference has identified as key domains of society where science is providing essential contributions.

  • In addition to demonstrations of invited and selected projects, the forum will

  • publicize the results of the conference (declaration, resolutions)

  • highlight via video-replay key moments of the conference

Message

The main message conveyed by the Forum is:  Science is a key contributor to the development of the information society. This message is based on key statements that the projects presented will highlight:

  • Science has no border

  • Science is about collaboration

  • Scientific communities can be the vector for IS deployment is developing regions

  • Science unite people

  • The needs of scientists are often those of the society at large a few years later
